I woke up this morning in the lovely Pittsburgh, PA to about 3 or more inches of snow! (more or less- but probably more than 3in. lol!☺) I went outside to play with Jaclyn & Rosie {Frankie & Jaclyn came home with us last night because we were going to meet everyone else in town...}and got to wear my new my new furry hat & rain boots [that froze my feet off because I forgot to wear my new socks to go with them. oops!].
While we were out in the snow, Jaclyn decided to see in the the little pond in Baba's [my grandma] backyard was all frozen...and she fell in &almost pulled me in with her! Funniest thing ever!! hehehehehee☻ Gotta love that girl!♥ [She is such a blessing, right Kristen? haha!!)
Then we all REcurled our hair and did our makeup and listened to some great songs [like the "Put one foot in front of the other and soon you'll be walking out the dooooorrrr!" From the Santa Claus Is Coming to Town movie. lol] because we had nothing better to do!
Then we ate...A LOT.
Painted our nails...while we ate some more.
Watched a movie and drank slushies.
Ate dinner.
Then Me, Rosie, Si, Levi, Jesse, Frankie &Jaclyn played [1 round!] of sardines & decided to all go on a walk. So we walked up to the school and played/rolled/pushed each other/ran/tripped/crawled down the big hill. It was great!!
Frankie rocked in my lovely coat and purple scarf while I wore my dad's leather coat. Honestly, I have no idea why Frank didn't wear dad's coat &I wore mine! haha☺
After we got back, we ate some more and drank tea.
I seriously have the greatest family ever! Even though we were all supposed to meet with everyone in town (we couldn't because of all the snow! there is so much here! It is so fun!) & hang out there we still had such a great time today!
Yay for family!
Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!! &Happy New Year! {2013! booyah!}
I hope you are having an AMAZING day! (I know that I am... as I sit here on my laptop with my new blingy mouse, and zebra laptop case.. while listening to Owl City with my new silver leopard print head phones and trying to figure out how I can pull off wearing shiny silver tights, a bright yellow fedora with a blue bow and a really awesome leather jacket with a fur collar... HA!
God is so good to me. Thanks, Lord- you have blessed me with so many people and things. Thank you that you love me- even though I am worth less than dust. -Please help me to not get so carried away with things that I have gotten, but to remember what this day is all about and why we celebrate it!
Again, Merry Christmas, guys!
Love you all -Valerie
Ok so... you know the verse in Zephaniah? [Wow, Valerie.. that was real descriptive! sheesh.]
Anyway, there is this verse in Zephaniah (Zephaniah 3:17, to be exact!) that says:
"The Lord your God is in your midst, a might one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quite you with his love; he will exult over you with loud singing."
I LOVE that verse! LOVE IT! ☺ It is so amazing and it shows how much God loves you.
But, for some reason the part where is says "he will exult over you with loud singing" just kinda makes me laugh! For some reason, every time I read that, I get this cartoon image in my head of God singing really loud- Like this:
If you can't see this picture, all I can tell you is that you are missing out! LOL ☺
I'm tellin' ya, it gets me every time! ☺
Ok, that's it. haha!!!
Merry 2 days and 11 hours [according to my handy dandy Christmas countdown I have here...] 'till Christmas!! yay!
Well, it now feels 100% more like Christmas time!
Yay for snow!! ☺
I was so excited when I woke up and found out there was snow on the ground! I can't believe that is is still snowing and blowing like crazy, though.
It's pretty much totally awesome!!
Also, [in case your still wondering] the world didn't end today.
Sorry.
I know your probably terribly disappointed... LOL ☺
Merry Christmas, guys!
Four days until the most wonderful day of the year. [-Or one of them anyway. I happen to think April 23 is a pretty schnazzy date, too. Just putting it out there... Not like it's my birthday or anything like that. *cough* LOL]
I really can't believe that it's almost Christmas, though! I am pumped!! =)
I have a thing for shopping for gifts for people. I have had such a great time making gifts & Christmas shopping! It's great!
Yesterday, I was at Walmart with my mom and Silas. We all split up so that we could get presents for people w/o the other knowing.. I'm not gonna lie, Baba (my grandma) I can totally see why you like to go to Walmart. I think I am going to become a 'Walmart Hobo'. It was totally great when I heard tobyMac come the radio. I may or may not have called Silas just to let him know that tobyMac's song was playing... *cough*cough*☺
I can hardly stand the wait. Please Christmas, don't be late! hahaha☺
I found a bunch of great things, too! I think I'm going to burst with excitement!
Can you believe that there are only NINE more days until Christmas?!
I am seriously bursting with excitement!!
-If it would start snowing about now it would be perfect! ♥
On that note: Praise the Lord for Christmas Break! Seriously. =)
My last class ended yesterday at 3:30. I'm officially on my 23rd hour of Christmas break [Or something like that.. I'm on break, so I'm not going to use any math skills to try to figure that out. HA!]. It is totally blissful.
Today, mom decdied that I get to plan our Christmas Adam dinner this year. I'm totally psyched!
(Yes, our Christmas Adam dinner. Adam came before Eve, right? It was Rosie's idea-- I think we are on our 3 or 4th year of celebrating it! LOL)
Ok, that's it. haha(=
P.S.- I really need to go Christmas shopping, too... just so we all know.
P.P.S.- I can't wait to go see the Hobbit!!!!!!!!! I'm probably going to explode with excitement!! It's so tinsel!
Live life. Live it to the fullest.
But don't just live your life to bring happiness to yourself. Live your life to bring honor, glory & praise to Jesus Christ! Do it every second, every minute and every hour of every day.
I think that sometimes we take life for granted... I mean, I know I sure do!!
But I need to realize that:
1). We are called to live a life of giving our praise, glory & ourselves to God.
2). We're not actually guaranteed another second of life! -Every breath we take should be considered a wonderful gift from God!
Wow. That's a HUGE statement right there!
God has really brought this to my attention these past twelve months.
It started when my friend's (Hannah) brother died.
Then, my friend's (Matt) sister died.
Then, my friend's (Sarah) dad died in a car accident last night.
Honestly, this has got to be the hardest year I've ever gone through!
I don't understand why God has brought so much suffering into the lives of my friends... but I know that he has a perfect plan. (I repeat, a perfect plan!) And I can give him all of my sorrow and my shattered heart, and he will help me get back up. What a mighty God I serve!
I gotta go because my laptop is about to die and I am 2 lazy to go get it.
"Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing." ~James 1:2-4
Dear Lord,
Please help me count this "trial" all joy, because right now I having a hard time doing that.
Love, Valerie
So, I've learned a few valuable lessons I would like to share with you!
Number 1: If at all possible, avoid getting rocks stuck in your hand. -Actually, just avoid running in general! It's just plain dangerous! haha :)
You see, I was playing "Chicken in the Barnyard" (It's "Ghost in the Graveyard", but we changed the name because like a million years ago our moms didn't want us to be playing a game the involved ghosts and the name just kinda stuck! lol) on Monday afternoon with some friends. I was blissfully running from my brother Jesse (trying to get back to the chicken coop before I got tagged.) and I tripped over my other brother Silas when we both tried to fit through the door at the name time. Needless to say, it didn't work out that great. I went flying and got little rocks in my hands and in my knee. Ouch.
Number 2: NEVER (and I mean NEVER!) try to memorize over thirty Spanish words and how to spell them the day they are due. Your mind will go bonkers! It is just painful.
Number 3: Constellations really don't look anything like what they are supposed to look like.
Here, I drew this beautiful picture for you. (Ain't in lovely?)
This is supposed to be a Bull.
Sorry guys.
I'm just not seeing it.
Number 4: Unless you really enjoy bugs, don't leave your retainer out. Two nights ago, I had my retainer out in a bowl of peroxide. When I got it out, there was a fly in it! EEEWWWWWW!!!! It was SO GROSS!
Number 5: Never jump in a pile of leaves with a wet sucker. --Now, I've never actually done this, but I hear it's pretty nasty. LOL
Well, that is all the wisdom I've got for you today.
Stay safe. Don't do drugs. And don't pick your neighbors nose- 'cuz that's just plain yucky.
Happy four days after Thanksgiving! Seriously, I think the person who invented Thanksgiving break was a genius- but they totally should have made it a month long celebration so we get more time off from school!
Totally.
Well, anyhoo-
Hope you all had a WONDERFUL Thanksgiving! I know I sure did! :D
I just thought of another post to write about, so Ta ta, peeps!
So tonight, while my dad was doing our family devo's during dinner, he read a verse that really caught my attention.
"Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you."
~1 Peter 5:7
I think this is the coolest thing ever! Praise God that we can place all our worries, doubts, fears, or whatever we're struggling with on him... because hecares for you.)
I'm sure you're all wondering what those peculiar numbers and letters are doing at the top of this blog post.
Well, I'll tell you.
It's my name.
Typed with my chin.
Seriously.
It is quite amusing.
(Especially when you are searching for something to do besides write a paper for British Literature, or study for an Astronomy Test. ..Not that I would know anything about that.. *cough*cough*)
Sitting in my backyard watching my siblings make hammocks & torches.
(Yes, hammocks & torches!)
------------------------------- Ok, wait... first you have to know that my back yard is right in front of an ally. Here, I drew a lovely picture for you:
It is kinda small... but at least you have an idea =)
----------------------------
So... anyway..
there I am...
Sitting in my backyard watching my siblings make hammocks & torches.
(Yes, hammocks & torches!)
When a little girl & her brothers and sisters some how get their ball stuck in our tree --right next to the ally and basketball court..
They were failing miserably at getting their ball back.
Then, two boys walk by (probably a year younger than me..) and see the kids and decide to help. Which failed, too. And they ended up getting five balls stuck up in the tree..
It was actually really funny to watch everyone try so many different ways to get their balls down and everything failed.. I was laughing so hard! (I couldn't help it. LOL) Eventually they just kinda gave up.
Then, one little boy walks up and says, "C-can we p-play basketball for a little bit?"
So, next thing you know half the kids (and someone's dad, too) in the neighborhood are playing basketball in our yard
Good times. Good times..
Well.... that was a good story.... NOT! At least it sounded good when I was thinking about writing tonight! lol =)
So, I wrote this post like two days ago.. but I was in a hurry, so I didn't have time to add the "finishing touches". LOL But I'm done with it now so YAY!
In honor of today, being that there are only 46 days till Christmas (!!!), I have officially changed changed my Google Chrome screen-saver-theme-thingymabob to CHRISTMAS LIGHTS!! So, that is totally exciting! (sorry if you are feeling very confused or left out at the moment- I'm afraid that I am not exceptionally great at explaining things... which you have probably figured out by now! haha :)
Also, we got our first Christmas Card!!
Okay, actually it's now actually a "Christmas Card".. just a card talking about Christmas from the post office... butclose enough!! Right? :D
But guess what?! As I was feeling rather excited about the not-for-real-Christmas-card that we got and picked it up, I got a stinkin' paper cut!!
So, I ran around the house- with my poor little sliced finger in my mouth- looking for a band-aid. (Because I'm just a wimp like that and cannot handle sliced fingers! haha)
But to my dismay, I found that we only have the little circle kind of band-aids! No Angry Birds or Avengers band-aids!
*sigh*
I have FIVE very exciting things to share with you today!
(..well, I think they are exciting anyway.. But that's not really saying much, is it?)
Number One:
This morning my adorable little brother, Jesse woke me up to show me "something just great!". (you know, it turns out he actually doesn't look all that adorable early in the morning when he is trying to get me up.. haha! just kidding!)
Anyway, one I was half awake, he pulled back the curtains in my bedroom and.... Lo and behold there was SNOW!!
Honestly, if that doesn't make you like 100 times more awesomer (yes, i just said awesomer, don't judge me) than you already are (or would like to be in my case.. haha!), I don't know what does!
Here. I took a glorious photo.
This is outside my pantry window this morning.
This one is outside my bedroom window around 11:30.
Dear Christmas,
Honestly, I don't think you can come soon enough!
Love,
Vallie =)
Number Two:
Since it snowed today and all, I started getting really excited about winter.. Or things that happen during the winter, anyway.
Like: WINTER JAM!!
I am seriously so excited!
I went last year with some awesome friends for the first time and absolutely LOVED it!
(Side Note: If you don't know what Winter Jam is.. It's just a big concert that has a bunch of christian artists and is $10.00 @the door. Greatest thing ever. Seriously.) Number Three: I just found out that you can buy UNRULED INDEX CARDS!
They look just like regular index cards, but with no lines on them.
How cool is that?
Very.
Also, you can get them in different colors, too..
So that is definitely plus!
Number Four:
Today, when we were listening to Christmas music, the song "Feliz Navidad" came on, I finally knew what they were saying!!
HAPPY CHRISTMAS!!
Who knew?
Thank You Spanish Class!! LOL =)
This is to get you in the festive mood....
Number Five:
I had chocolate yogurt for the first time today!
Ok, well folks.. That is all of the exciting things for today.
I gotta go to bed now though because I have to babysit some super cute kiddos early in the morning! =)
Well, first let me back up so that you can fully appreciate why a am so thrilled...
SO.... I personally, seriously like LOVE Christmas like a whole stinkin' LOT!
I'm one of those people who would keep Christmas decorations up all year long (supposing that person's mother would give her the "OK"... which she hasn't.) and start playing Christmas music in July! (I am actually listening to it right now. LOL=)
Pathetic, right?
I know.
What can I say?
So anyway, now that you have a little background on the subject of me loving Christmas a whole lot, I would like to share this extraordinary bit of information with you!!
Did you know.... THAT LOWE'S HAS JUST PUT UP THEIR CHRISTMAS TREES AND TOTALLY COOL CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS?!?!?!
Isn't that great?!
I know, that is what I thought too! haha =)
Ok, that's it.
Merry Christmas! LOL!!
P.S. Did you know that there are only 64 days 2 hours & 47 minutes 'till Christmas?!
Yesssss!!!!
I've been think about life lately.
Right now, I am still in school.
Where will I be next month?
Where will I be next year?
In the next five years?
Then I came upon a scary thought: in the next five years, I will be twenty!
I could still be in my small town village, I could be in college, I could even be a wife and/or a mom! I could be half-way over with my life even!
After that thought, I started thinking about others things like: where will my family and friends be in five years?
Right now, my littlest brother Jesse is 11 years old (I think lol). In five years he will be sixteen and my big brother will be twenty-one, almost twenty-two. What if, in the next five years, I don't have a little brother Jesse or a big brother, Silas? What if I do? What if Si becomes someone awesome.. like the president! =) What if he is a hobo and cannot afford to buy his family shoes? What is Maryrose robs a bank and becomes on the top ten list of most wanted people?! (ok, now I'm getting kinda crazy!! lol)
What about my friends, though?.. my closest friends who I love very dearly and feel like I could never live without? Will I ever see them after we all go our separate ways in life? Maybe. Will we ever talk? Possibly. Will we ever go back to our little Subway booth on Wednesday nights or have random parties/bonfires, just because? Doubt it. Seriously, doubt it.
Life is full of "what if's" and "what about's".
Some are really cool amazing thoughts like: what if my brothers and sister all have an amazing life ahead of them? What if we have no more days of trouble to come and we "perfect" lives?
And some are not so good thoughts like: what is Levi gets in a car accident and has horrible brain damage, can no longer do anything for himself or think for himself.
You know what? I have something awesome to share with you.
Matthew 6:25-34: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." If that isn't one of the coolest things you have ever read, I don't know what is!!
#1. Don't worry!
#2. God is totally in control, just look around you! You know those birds that you see everywhere? Go created them and takes cares for each and every one of them and plans out every detail of their life. To God, you are worth so much more than a silly 'ol bird!! God cares for you in more ways then you will ever know!
#3. Worrying doesn't add a single second, minute, hour, day, month or year to you life!
#4. Don't worry about your clothes.. that's just silly! Have you not see how your savior takes care of those pesky dandelions or those beautiful flowers your mom grows all around the house!! Think about how much more you are worth to Christ!!
#5, Don't worry!
#6. Don't worry!
#7. Don't worry!
Isn't it so cool to know that God cares so much for you that he makes sure you know that he will never forget about any detail of your life.. Even the tiniest thing like, how you are going style your hair tomorrow! God is in control of you life, so don't worry! It's in good hands!
Plus, I have one more cool thing to share with you.
Ok, so.. You know how I was talking about "what if we have an amazing life ahead of us? What if we have no more days of trouble to come and we "perfect" lives?"
Well, guess what?
Ahead of us, we do have an amazing and totally perfect life. If you have trusted Christ as your savior, repented and are living your life for HIS glory.. You have an indescribable life ahead that involves praising and glorifying Christ forever and ever in heaven! How great is that?!
So, ya know? Even though I get frustrated and scared that I don't know what life holds ahead for me, I can be content in knowing that God does!
I think I've just found the coolest thing on earth!! (for the next 15 minutes, anyway...)
Ok, so.. guess what we are having for dinner tonight?
I'll give you a hint: It starts with purple and ends in cauliflower.
Seriously though, we are eating purple cauliflower! Isn't that beast?!
Brothers are the greatest thing ever- especially mine! They are all so different, but yet totally the same all of the time! They are huge blessings to me & they make me laugh AT LEAST 20 million times everyday!
Silas is in the middle with his friends Kyle & Drew.
"Getting ready for prom.." (yeah, right!)
Silas: Silas is the best big brother ever! He is super kind, loving & thoughtful to me and all of my siblings. He is the kind of guy who cares about his family and will stick up for us. Si is kinda quiet when you first get to know him, but that totally changes shortly after! He is always coming up with crazy ideas that are WAY over my head, but he cares enough about me to explain what he is talking about. Silas is always talking to me about the new things he learned in his bible- he is devoted to living his life to Christ & bringing glory to God... which I happen to think is the coolest thing ever! He is one of the most talented and creative guys I know.. he likes to draw, paint, read history books, dress up nice =) & reenact in Civil War reenactments Silas is not only my brother, but one of my BEST friends EVER!
Levi:
Levi after riding
Levi is just about as tuff as they come! =) LOL He is ALWAYS wearing a hat and an adorable smile! (Don't tell him I said that! hahaha =) People are always thinking Levi and Jesse are twins, or the can't remember who is who.. They both try to come up with sneaky new ideas to try and fool people all the time! Levi has always struggled with reading because of his eyes, but he is totally BRILLIANT! (-So he really likes to learn about Albert Einstein because although he may have been one of the most brilliant men who ever lived, he struggled with reading, too!) Levi loves to do science experiments and math, and really likes to ride horses! He may be three years younger than me, but he is just as good a rider! He likes to do Civil War reenactments with Silas & Dad and he always wants to go camping, too. Levi is super fun to hang out with & he's always teaching me about the awesome science experiments he did and why they work. =) Jesse:
Jesse's latest Lego creation.
Jesse is the "baby" of the family! LOL He is so funny & he loves making other people laugh. He has tons of cute little freckles & crazy curly red hair that probably no one in the world could figure out how to brush! He loves playing Legos & could care less if he never go to do school again! haha =) Jesse pretty much sings constantly- yesterday, we were in the car for fifteen minutes and he had already sung 16 different songs.. Rosie counted! lol (Don't worry, when he grows up to become a world famous singer, I'll help you get your own autographed copy of his CD & MAYBE you can get a picture take with him, too. hahahaha =) just kidding!) Jesse is the best fisherman I know! He is always asking me, "Vallie, will you go fishing with me today? 'Cuz sometimes I get bored when I am
Jesse with his 2 fish on 1 hook!!
all by myself." This summer, he decided that he was going to put two hooks on his fishing rod so that he could catch two fish at one time... and he did!! I never thought it could be possible!!!
Happy October! (Yes, I do know that I'm four days late.. minor details..=)
